Dunleavy, seconded by J. Griffith. The Treasurer’s Report followed. HS is at 51% of its budget and doing well with membership income. Much of the grant money we are using for the museum renovation comes from the town of Shepherdstown. Since many of our supplies and labor are donated, we have some money left over. The treasurer’s report was accepted with a motion by P. McNaughton, seconded by S. Drennen. The Administrator’s Report followed. C. Cook mentioned that the cost of mailing copies of the Register newspaper is excessive. So, we will have the copies available in the HS office and will also seek other possible ways to distribute them. The April 25th springtime trip to Mt. Vernon has 33 reservations. The annual bridge fundraiser is now being publicized. Cost for the Friday and Saturday event is $25 per day to include bridge lessons and lunches. Participants can earn Master points as the fundraiser is sanctioned by the ACB. Teachers are Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Scott. A discussion of the old business followed as the Board took a tour of the Museum. President Moore talked about the handling of Museum artifacts to facilitate the repairs to the rooms. We have made a request for grant money to pay a summer intern, Jill Hartley, who will do an inventory of objects and start a data base. President Moore then told us about the Henry Kyd Douglas field desk. The price of this important artifact has been reduced to $5,500. We already have received a donation of $1,500 towards the purchase. E. Dunleavy has been doing further research on Civil War history to make possible additions to the museum. President Moore agreed to donate $1,000 towards the desk purchase. The Board thanked A. Wayt for her work to make the Spring Social successful. New business was introduced next as the subject of our annual preservation awards was discussed. S. Drennen, J. Griffith and B, Ayers will serve as the committee again this year. L. Welch then asked for suggestions for this year’s oral history presentations beginning June 4th. They will be held on Wednesdays. Suggestions for topics were: schools, newspapers, Morgan Grove Fair, WWII, and Farms & Orchards. C. Cook then told the Board that she needs a new computer hard drive for the office. A motion to purchase same was made by E. Dunleavy, seconded by J. Van Tol. E. Moore and C. Cook discussed an interview about small towns to be completed on April 13th. A video is being made for US Troops abroad. Mary Lehman volunteered to work on this program. The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. with a motion by J. Griffith, seconded by A. Wayt. Respectively submitted
